Notes for Purchasing Extension Socket Outlets

Consumer Council – Choice #427 – Notes for Purchasing Extension Socket Outlets

Home Safety is our Company’s major concern and we would like to introduce some notes on purchasing the Extension Socket Outlets:

First you need to make sure that the Extension Socket Outlets have already passed the BS Standard BS1363, in the normal saturation you can find “BS1363” at the back of the product if it already passed the Standard. Secondly you should checked the socket plug to see if it written BS1363 on it. Some of the quality manufacture will also stated the certificate body of the Standard for the user’s reference. Also you should be aware for the material they used in the Extension Socket Outlets, for your safety you should choose something which stated it is heat resistant and unbreakable. Please do not purchase any products with scratches or cracks on the surface. Finally the user should also test all the individual switches to see if there were any malfunction on the switches.

The user should also take the advice from “Consumer Council”: -Not to place extension sockets under direct sunlight, in damp places or be easily accessible to children. Never overload the extension socket unit. Switch off unused transformers and home appliances via the independent switch on the socket. If the socket unit does not have independent switches, simply unplug the appliances from the socket.

Please also allow us to have a short introduction for the material we are using as the housing of our Link Socket:

We are using one of the largest plastic material suppliers in German - “Bayer”. The Makrolon Polycarbonates (As known: PC) as the housing material of Link Socket. Not only because of the fire and heat resistant ability but also the toughness of the material. In UL94 Flammability of Plastic Materials it reaches V-0 in the 1.5mm category. This means that they cut the plastic in 125mm long x 13mm wide x 1.5mm thick and place it at the top of a 20mm tall blue frame and burn for 10 seconds. The testing specimens should be extinct the fire itself within 10 seconds and no framing drips allowed to ensure the frame resistant ability. The material is also highly heat resistance. Testing under IEC60695-2-12 grow wire test. It can withstand 960 degrees from a punch of the glow wire and didn’t burn. Beside of the fire and heat resistance the material also required to have a high impact resistant ability. If you want to punch throw our material in a size of 40mm diameter circle with the thickness of 2mm, you need to use at lease 5,400N of force.
